Dayna Bersamin beat the field by eight strokes as the University of Hawaii at Hilo claimed the Culturame Women's Golf Classic, hosted by George Fox University, at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in North Plains, Ore.
Bersamin turned in rounds of 73-75 for a two-round total of 4-over-par 148. For Bersamin, this is her second career title as a Vulcan having won last year's Sonoma State Women's Spring Invitational.
The Vulcans claimed three of the top five spots in the tournament with Randi Ono (79-77=156) tied for second place and Nicole Aoki (79-79=158) taking fifth place.
Tied for 10th place was Vulcan freshman Nyssa Aoki at 22-over-par 166 (86-80). Kiley Umeda was tied for 18th place at 32-over-par 176 (84-92).
The Vulcans turned in a team score of 50-over-par 626. In second place was George Fox (649) followed by St. Martin's (664), Northwest Christian (690), Pacific (725), Simpson (772) and Biola (796).
This is the second tournament a Vulcan has claimed the individual title this year. Ono claimed the Southwest Minnesota State/Mustang Invitational.
