University of Hawaii at Hilo basketball coach
Jeff Law went after one player from Sacramento City College and got two as
C.J. Brown and
Kiel Myers will be joining the Vulcans for the 2011-12 season.
The 6-foot-2 Brown fills in the point guard position vacated by two-year starter
Andrew Gipson. Brown averaged 5.2 assists and 7.8 points per game this past season.
"CJ was very strong as a freshman but had a foot injury that kind of affected him the whole year so his numbers weren't as good," said Law. "We're hoping with the rest he'll get back to where he supposed to be … somewhat of a gem in that regards."

The 6-8 Myers averaged 15.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He also showed an ability to hit 3-pointers making 29 of 63 attempts (.460).
"Kiel is a versatile wing that can go inside and step outside and shoot," said Law. "That's a spot we really needed."

The pair also addressed Law's concerns at the charity stripe which saw the 2010-11 Vulcans hit 410 of 618 (.663) attempts. Brown was a .863 shooter (63 of 73) while Myers was a .824 shooter (75 of 91).
"Both of them shoot free throws very well which was huge downfall for us this past year," said Law. "I'm hoping the familiarity will help out on the floor and off the floor."
