Vulcans open home stand with 88-62 win

Jeff Perkins had 12 points and 5 rebounds against WSC
The University of Hawaii at Hilo is running to the beat of a different drummer as they beat Western State College of Colorado 88-62 in the first home game of UH Hilo Head Coach GE Coleman's career.

Jamario Clayton led the Vulcans with 16 points that included three treys. Darnell Williams added 14 points while Jeff Perkins had 12.

"I think we put a good product on the floor," Coleman said.  "Our biggest thing is we want to compete in every possession."

The Vulcans had a 26-rebound advantage and held their turnovers to 11.

"When we get defensive rebounds we're good in transition so that's the key for us," Coleman said.
