The University of Hawaii at Hilo opens PacWest play with a 73-69 overtime loss to Chaminade University in Honolulu.
 
Whitney Edens led the Vulcans with 12 points while McKenzie Mangino and Hayley Reynolds added 11 each. Kamie Imai pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with nine points.
 
The Vulcans (1-2, 0-1) held a 36-29 lead at the break after hitting 11 of 34 shots from the field including four treys and were 10 of 13 from the freethrow line. Those numbers dropped in the final two periods with only 8 of 31 shots falling in the second half with one 3-pointer then only 2 of 6 shots in overtime with no treys.
 
"We got off to a good start but give Chaminade credit for battling back and making the plays they needed to make down the stretch," UH Hilo Head Coach David Kaneshiro said.
