HILO, Hawaii – Whenever the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Brigham Young University-Hawaii meet for a volleyball match, season records are thrown out the window as the friendly rivalry makes for an exciting evening.
BYU-Hawaii took a hard-fought five-setter from UH Hilo 23-25, 25-16, 25-27, 25-17, 16-14.
Neither team took off offensively as UH Hilo finished with a .094 attack percentage with 44 kills on 180 attempts with 27 errors. BYUH came in at .184 with 71 kills on 206 attempts and 33 errors.
On the other side of the net, both showed what Hawaii volleyball was about with UH Hilo picking up 87 digs and 14 blocks while BYUH recorded 100 digs and 10 blocks.

Morgan Lees had 15 and junior
Marley Strand-Nicolaisen had 12 of the Vulcans kills.
Although
Leilani Adolpho led the Seasiders with 12 kills, it was
Collette Kalougata's efficient 16 kills on 27 attempts with a pair of errors that made the difference.
UH Hilo returns to the UH Hilo court to face Notre Dame de Namur University in a 7 p.m. match on Thursday, September 24.
