HILO, Hawaii – Abcde Zoller's game winner ended a defensive standoff as the University of Hawaii at Hilo beat Notre Dame de Namur University 1-0 in a Pacific West Conference opener on the UH Hilo field.
Zoller's first goal of the year came courtesy of freshman
Tiani Teanio's pass up the middle. Zoller took the ball left and found the back of the next with 11 minutes remaining in the match.
Both teams were tagged with a pair of offsides, while UH Hilo recorded more saves (7-6) and NDDN more shots (12-11). NDDN also had four corner kicks to none by the hosts.
The Vulcans (2-0-2 overall, 1-0-0 PacWest) next host Fresno Pacific University in a 12:30 p.m. PacWest match on Monday, September 28 on the UHH field.
