Today’s the day where the 2021 NCAA Women of the Year will finally be announced- and also the day where we recap Bria Beale’s journey in the running to be the 2021 NCAA Women of the Year.
Beale went further than any other UH Hilo contestant. She represented UH Hilo and the PacWest on a national scale as a Top 30 semi-finalist. Beale was selected from a pool of over 500 candidates for one of the most prestigious awards that an NCAA female student-athlete can receive. And although she didn’t go the full distance, she achieved a major accomplishment as being named a Top 30 Semi-Finalist- Top 10 for Division II.
“Bria has been an outstanding student and an outstanding athlete since her arrival here at UH Hilo four years ago,” said athletic director Patrick Guillen. “She is a leader on and off the court and epitomizes the definition of student-athlete. We could not be more proud of her for this recognition and are excited to see what the future holds for this amazing young lady.”
The NCAA released letters from every Top 30 candidate. Each individual was asked to write a letter to their sport in a series called “In Her Words”. To read Beale’s salute to volleyball, CLICK HERE.
