The Pacific West Conference Freshman of the Year is off to a good start as a sophomore. Winning two matches over Top 10 opponents in Waco, Texas, Soukal improved to 4-1 on the season while playing on the No. 1 singles court. He defeated the No. 4 nationally ranked player, Anish Sriniketh from St. Edward's TX, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, and also won in straight sets over No. 9 ranked Manuel Pilotto of Southeastern Oklahoma State, 6-4, 6-4. He had one more win while in Texas, winning 6-4, 7-5 against Jeremiah Gonzalez of St. Mary's. He also won his only completed doubles match. Last year, the Czech Republic native was 14-2 in singles and 17-3 in doubles.
