Senior right-handed pitcher Valerie Alvarado made No. 8 nationally ranked Concordia look almost ordinary during two wins over the Eagles last week. She shut out the defending PacWest champions twice (1-0 and 8-0), pitching a total of 12 innings without allowing a run or a walk. She gave up just six hits total. In the series opener at Kealakehe High School in Kailua-Kona, she tossed a seven-inning two-hit shutout. In Friday's game, her offense got her eight runs (mercy rule) and she needed only five innings to shut down the Eagles. It was just the second and third time all season that Concordia has been shutout.
