Transfer lefthander Cameron Scudder was electric in his Big Island debut on Sunday versus Hawaii Pacific. Working through a rough beginning, he settled in to fan 11 Shark batters in just 5.2 innings of work. He gave up one unearned run in the first inning but struck out the side in the second and third innings. He finally tired in the sixth, but not after only giving up five hits and two earned runs. He didn't get the win or the loss, but posted the most strikeouts by a Vulcan pitcher since Travis Burleson in 2018 (11 vs. Concordia in 8 innings) or Jordan Kurokawa in 2016 (12 vs. Azusa Pacific in 8 inn.). The Yuma, Ariz. native (Gilbert-Chandler CC) now has a 2.61 ERA on the season and has struck out 16 batters in 10.1 innings.
