Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Athletics

Senior Taira Kaawaloa had an excellent final match of her career on Senior Day to help the Vulcans to a 3-0 win over Hawaii Pacific on Sunday afternoon. The Kailua native had a team-best 13 kills in the win over the Sharks, and hit .650 in the match--the highest hitting percentage for any Vulcan player all season. She also had nine digs vs. HPU, and on the season ranked third on the team in kills and digs. The outside hitter started two seasons for UHH after transferring from Irvine Valley College, and was a major part of a team that went 36-10 over that span. The Kinesiology major will graduate this spring.
