DAVID KANESHIRO

In his third year, Kaneshiro has developed a 36-38 overall record and 26-25 record in the Pacific West Conference while also leading the 2012 squad to the Pacific West Conference tournament.

A former UH Hilo men's assistant coach, he returned to Hilo in 2006, ending a 3-year head coaching run at Blackburn College (Carlinville, Ill.) where he was 39-38, claimed two conference championships and 2006 Co-Coach of the Year honor. He was first tabbed as a head coach by Webster University in 2000 where he was 23-28 over two years. In only his second year there, his team won a conference championship and he was recognized as the conference coach of the year.

Between head coaching positions, Kaneshiro spent a season on the California State University-Stanislaus staff as the head assistant coach. He also served as an assistant at UH Hilo (1995-98) and Webster (1998-99).

Kaneshiro was a stand-out point-guard at Hilo High School from 1987-1989. He continued at the collegiate level with a three-year career at NCAA Division III Beloit College (Wisc.) as the team's captain while earning all-conference honors during the 1993-94 season.

DEXTER IRVIN

Irvin is in his fourth year at the UH Hilo.

Prior to his arrival, he was the athletic director at fellow Pacific West Conference member Dixie State College in St. George, Utah. Under his direction, Dixie State won four NJCAA national titles, including two in women's soccer (2000, 2003), men's basketball (2002) and baseball (2004), along with an NJCAA national football runner-up finish in 2003.

Irvin's experience includes coaching women's basketball at Dixie State College (2001-05), Western New Mexico University (1988-93), Clarendon College (1985-88) and Utah Valley Community College (1978-79). In addition, Irvin was an athletic director for the Utah County Boys Club (1980) and Kirtland Central High School in New Mexico (1995-99).

He also lead Kirtland Central's girls basketball team to four state championships with a 151-17 record between 1993-99.

STEPHEN KIRKHAM

Kirkham enters his ninth year at UCCS and has served on conference, regional and national sports committees. He was also on the selection committee for the DII men's and women's national basketball championships.

Prior to his arrival at UCCS, Kirkham had a long and exemplary coaching career. It began with his graduation from Air Academy High School and the University of Northern Colorado. He became the Head women's basketball coach at St. Francis Community High School (Kan.) in 1977 where he still has the only league championship team and only state qualifying team in school history.

In 1981-82 he was the assistant coach at Fort Hays State University where he received his Master's Degree.  He then coached and taught at Durant High School (Okla.) where he was an assistant coach on the 1983 3A State Championship football team.  He also coached 6 on 6 women's basketball during his two years in Durant.

In 1984 he became the Head Women's basketball coach at Butler County Community College (Kan.). During his four year tenure he coached them to their first 20 win season and the first nationally ranked team in school history.

The next 16 years were at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colo. Kirkham retired as the winningest coach in the history of women's basketball in the RMAC. His teams still hold most of the school records at CMU and several conference records. He was inducted in the CMU Hall of Honor in Fall 2011 for his coaching excellence.

Kirkham is most proud of the fact that 100% of all the seniors he coached at CMU graduated.
