In his final collegiate game, senior guard
Parker Farris hit for a school-record 47 points to lead his team to a 95-88 season finale win over Dominican on Saturday night in San Rafael. Farris broke the previous record of 42 set by Marcus Owens in 1996 against Chaminade. Earlier this week, he hit for 39 against Holy Names, establishing his-then career high.
The Vulcans finished the 2016-17 season with a 10-16 overall record and a 8-12 mark in the Pacific West Conference. The Penguins also wrapped up at 10-16 and were 9-11 in PWC play.
Farris, a 6-4 sharpshooter from McKinnleyville, Calif., drained 13-of-24 shots from the field, including 6-of-11 from three-point range. He canned 15-of-16 shots from the free throw line. He added five rebounds and three assists for good measure.
He had an astounding 32 of his points in the second half, including 12 points from the free throw line. He made all four of his trey attempts after the break and hit 8-of-11 shots from the floor in the second half.
The Vulcans, who trailed the Penguins 44-38 at halftime, outscored their hosts 57-44 after intermission. As Dominican tried to play catch-up, sending UH Hilo to the free throw line, UHH hit 33-of-44 charity opportunities, including 24-of-28 in the second half.
The Vulcans were playing without starting point guard
Ryley Callaghan for the second straight game, with just seven players suited up.
Eric Wattree III stepped into the quarterback spot and finished with 12 points and four assists.
Brian Ishola was also in double figures with 11 points.
Darius Johnson-Wilson added seven points and eight rebounds.
Reverend Maduakor led five Dominican players in double figures with 18 points.
In addition to the single-game school record for points, Farris also established a single-season record for scoring average at 23.3. That broke Merriel Jenkins mark of 22.4 set in 1996-97. His free throw percentage this season of .873 is also a new Vulcan record.
