Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Eagles move past Vulcans, 3-0

IRVINE, Calif.—Concordia remained unbeaten in conference play with a 3-0 men's soccer victory over Hawai`i Hilo on Saturday afternoon at the Eagles Soccer Field.

With the win, Concordia moved to 3-2-1 on the season and they are now 2-0 in the Pacific West Conference. The Vulcans fell to 0-5 on the year, including 0-2 in conference play.

The Eagles, picked to finish second in the Pacific West Conference pre-season poll, broke a scoreless tie just prior to halftime to start the scoring. Michael Oakson fired a shot in from the left side, off a pass from Ethan Kirby to give the home team a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.

15 minutes into the second half, the Eagles added another off the foot of Manuel Nunez. Ether Bustos fed Nunez at the top of the box and he flicked it in past UHH goalkeeper Nick Williams. Bustos helped finish off the visitors with another assist in the 78th minute, this time leading Julian Font to the clincher. Font dribbled through the middle of the box and sent the ball into the upper right corner of the net.

Statistically, the match was fairly even. Concordia had 12 shots to UH Hilo's 10, but the Vulcans had one more shot on goal than their host (6-5). The Eagles' Saul Ocampo earned the shutout with six saves on the afternoon.

UH Hilo will wrap up its southern California road swing on Tuesday under the lights at Azusa Pacific.
