SAN RAFAEL, Calif.—Host Academy of Art took advantage of a Hawaii Hilo first half cold spell to race away with a 91-74 men's basketball victory on Saturday afternoon at the Conlan Recreation Center (the game was played at Dominican University).
The Urban Knights broke open a tight game with a 13-2 run midway through the first half and never trailed after that. With the win ART U improved to 10-15 overall and to 8-10 in the Pacific West Conference. The Vulcans are now 11-12 on the year and 9-10 in the PacWest.
Biola defeated Hawaii Pacific today, meaning that Biola is back in sole possession of fifth place (10-9), UH Hilo is sixth (9-10), Academy of Art is seventh (8-10) and Hawaii Pacific is eighth (7-11).
Academy of Art shot 64 percent from the field and outrebounded the Vulcans, 36-23. UH Hilo hit only 2 of 19 three-point attempts and shot 44 percent from the field.

Kupaa Harrison,
Sasa Vuksanovic and
Elisha Duplechan.
Damani Whitlock added ten points and four assists.
The Urban Knights, who also beat the Vulcans (76-66) in Hilo, broke away after leading 15-13 in the first half. The 13-2 run made it 28-15, and they would go on to outscore the Vulcans 20-5 over a larger stretch. They led at the half, 56-35.
The Vulcans would trail by as many as 24 points after the break as the Urban Knights would go on to complete the season sweep. Josh Hill led ART U with 21 points.
The Vulcans will play their final home game of the season this Saturday, hosting Hawaii Pacific in a 3 pm matinee contest.
