OAKLAND, Calif. --The Vulcans cap their Northern California road trip with a 25-22, 25-18, 16-25, and 25-19 win over Holy Names.

The Vulcans took care of business on the road, coming up 4-0. After tonight's victory they are 8-2 overall and 5-1 in conference, dropping Holy Names to 4-11 overall and 1-6 in conference.

UH Hilo started off strong, taking the first two sets 25-22 and 25-18. In the first set, the Hawks had 12 errors to the Vulcans seven. Aston Jessee had three kills in the middle of the set that helped give the Vulcans the lead they needed to defeat the Hawks. Both teams cut their errors in half in the second set. HNU had eight errors to UHH's four. The Vulcans' offense led a combined effort to secure the next win, kills by Gott, Jessee, Cruz, Beale, and Parisian sealed the deal.

Holy Names came back from the two-set deficit to win the third, 25-16. The Hawk's Lille Tuivailala led them with five kills, followed by Lauren Sera with four.

Holy Names continued to ride their high in the fourth set, making the match a back-and-forth battle until a ball handling error by HNU sparked a rally that the Vulcans rode until their eventual 25-19 win. Right after the ball handling error Beale smacked down back-to-back kills that furthered UHH's lead. After those kills, Beale went on to score four out of the six remaining points with more kills.

The Vulcans' game leaders in kills were Beale with 17 and Parisian and Cruz with nine apiece. UHH out-aced HNU 10-6. Tani Hoke led her team with four aces, followed by Parisian with three and Jessee with one. Jessee was also a wall at the next, totalling seven blocks. Parisian accumulated three blocks herself and Beale had one.

Next up for the Vulcans is their home opener against Biola. They will look to continue their four-game winning streak against the Eagles Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. HST. Just a reminder that at this time, fans are not permitted to home games.
