HILO, Hawai'i-- UH Hilo came ready to play rolling off of Tuesday's 1-0 victory against the Concordia Irvine Eagles with another exciting win against the Biola Eagles. The Vulcans took a 2-0 win over Biola stretching their winning streak to six games. UH Hilo will move up 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the PacWest conference while Biola falls 5-7-1 overall and 3-3 in the PacWest.
In just the sixth minute of the match Daelenn Tokunaga had a breakaway that took her all the way to the net. Tokunaga, one-on-one with the goalie, faked out right and then shot way left to score the Vulcans' first goal (1-0). This is Tokunaga's 11th goal of the season. She is the current PacWest goal leader by six goals and is just four goals away from breaking the school's most goals in one season record. Â
Later in the match Nanea Wall also got an opportunity at the net. In the second half Wall received a good pass from Alyssa Padron and was able to quickly turn around and shoot right past the Biola goalkeeper to make the score UHH up 2-0.Â
Viviana Poli had another solid performance in the goal recording her fourth shutout of the season. Poli totaled three saves, not letting up an inch to the Eagles.Â
The Vulcans out-shot BU 12-4, nine of these shots were on target to Biola's three. UH Hilo's shot leader was Filippa Graneld with four shots.Â
Next up for UHH is Point Loma Nazarene. The Vulcans will take on the Sea Lions Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 12 p.m. HST.Â
