Volleyball Adds Hadaller and Reinke to 2022 Roster

HILO, Hawai'i— The women's volleyball team would like to welcome two incoming freshmen to their 2022 roster, Isabella Hadaller and Emerson Reinke.

"We are very happy to announce the first two additions from the 2022 class," said head coach Chris Leonard.  "Bella Hadaller and Emerson Reinke bring a long list of accolades from their prep and club careers and share a humility and team-first mindset that will make them great Vulcans. I'm excited to have them join our outstanding group of returning players and know that they will make significant contributions to our Vulcan 'ohana and our Hilo community in the near future."

A 6-foot outsider hitter, Hadaller will join the Vulcans from Kelso, Washington. Hadaller is a duo-athlete who participated in volleyball and track and field while at Kelso High School. Over her high school career Hadaller has accumulated several athletic and academic achievements including: 2018 All-League Honorable Mention, 2019 First Team All-League, 2019 Offense MVP, placed third in State in 2019, 2019 All-State Honorable Mention, made Prep Volleyball 2022 Outside Hitters National Watch List, 2020 Offense MVP, 2020 AVCA Phenom, 2020 Centralia Hun City Tournament All-Star, 2021 3A GSHL Player of the Year, and finished seventh in State in 2021. Hadaller also broke her high school's record for most kills in a single season in 2019.

Along with competing in high school volleyball and track and field, Hadaller plays club volleyball for the Aces and Excel NW. When Hadaller isn't playing sports you can catch her hanging out with friends and boating.

"I chose UH Hilo  because from the moment I stepped foot in Hilo, I was taken aback from the kindness of the community and the beauty within the culture," said Hadaller. "I had never felt so invited into a place that I had never experienced before. The way that this program develops relationships with their athletes is something that you don't see everyday and I'm grateful and excited for this opportunity to play the sport I love."

Next is Emerson Reinke from Arvada, Colorado. Reinke is a 5-foot-10 setter who attended Ralston Valley High School. Reinke was coached by Ashley Ahlman as a four-year varsity player for the Mustangs. While at Ralston Valley HS, Reinke received honors such as All-Conference, First Team All-Academic, All-State, and MVP. Reinke also plays club volleyball for Juggernaut Volleyball and Yeti Beach. When Reinke isn't on the court she enjoys fishing, reading, attending concerts, and camping.

"I chose UH Hilo because when I came to Hilo it already felt like a family," said Reinke. "I loved the passion for the game and competitiveness that I saw in the team and coaching staff. I also chose Hawaii because who wouldn't want to spend four years doing what they love and getting their education on a beautiful island!"

Some Words From Coach:

"Bella is a dynamic 6-rotation attacker and defender that has carried a huge load for her high school and club teams," commented Leonard. "She is an explosive outside hitter that earned Greater St. Helens League All-Conference Player of the Year honors as a senior. Her athleticism and skill set will be a great addition to our team."

"Emerson has the skills, court awareness and presence that made her one of the best setters in the State of Colorado over the past several years," stated Leonard. "She is excited to be a Vulcan and we are excited to have a player of her caliber and character join us."

Welcome Hadaller and Reinke to the Vulcan 'ohana.
