Vulcans Split Twin Bill With Wolves

KANEOHE, Hawai'i– The UH Hilo women's softball team split their doubleheader against Western Oregon in Kaneohe, Hawai'i.

The Vulcans took the first game 8-4 and dropped the second game 9-0 against the Wolves.

UH Hilo is now 1-1 overall while Western Oregon is 8-3 overall.

Game One
Sara Bhatt threw a complete game where she only let up five hits. Bhatt was resilient on the mound and her offense supplied her with insurance runs.

UHH rattled off six hits throughout the first three innings, taking a 4-0 lead. WOU made their way on the scoreboard in the fourth, scoring a run off a walk and an Vulcan error (6-2).

The Red and Black answered immediately, tacking on two runs of their own. Lana Kline scored off a single by Taisha Bratton and Brandee Chinen scored off a base knock by Arissa Lugo (8-2).

The final inning proved to be interesting as Western Oregon put up an seventh-inning fight. WOU's Maddie Brandner walked with one out and Logan Carlos (WOU) picked her up with a triple down the right field line (8-3). The Wolves would score one more run before the Vulcans closed out the game (8-4).

Four Vulcans hit 500 and above including: Chinen (1-for-2), Bratton (2-for-3), Lugo (2-for-2), and Mari Kimoto (2-for-2).

Game Two
