HILO, Hawai'i– A huge eight-run inning by the Vulcans stole the show from the Sharks giving UHH the 8-4 win for the senior game.
Hawaii Pacific (17-19, 11-14 PacWest) was leading 4-0 until the seventh inning where the Vulcans inflicted their damage (8-4).
Lucas Sakay led-off the inning with a single and was later scored by a Casey Yamauchi base knock to left (4-1). Chris Aubort worked a walk which sent the next run home (4-2). Joseph Gallagher then lasered a two-run RBI single to tie up the game (4-4). With two runners on, Jaryn Kambara launched a three-run homer to take the go-ahead lead, 7-4.
Back-to-back singles by Sakay and Bradyn Yoshida allowed the Vulcans final run to score, 8-4.
James Yamasaki started on the mound and was relieved by Jacob Liberta who threw four-innings of solid work. Liberta held the Sharks scoreless while retiring four batters. Takashi Umino closed the game throwing to the final two batters where he produced a flyout and a strikeout in his senior game.
The next game for the Vulcans will be their Alumni game which will not be countable for any official records. Alumni game is set for Saturday, Apr. 15 at 1pm at the George and Marion Hall Stadium.
