HILO, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Hilo women's basketball team closed the long season-opening home stand with a loss to visiting Biola, 61-44, Wednesday evening in Pacific West Conference action at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
It was a tight first half through the midway point of the second quarter when the Eagles took advantage of a 2-of-10 shooting output from the Vulcans to take a six-point lead into the break.
Biola continued its momentum by out-scoring Hawai'i Hilo, 12-2, to start the second half as the Vulcans shot just 25.0 percent (7-28 FG, 0-11 3PT) the rest of the way.
Wednesday's loss capped a nine-game conference-opening home stand as the Vulcans remain at the No. 8 spot in the PacWest standings.

- No Vulcans player reached double-digit scoring figures as Mandi Kawaha led with nine points. Kierstyn Agonias, Jenna Waki and Mindy Kawaha each totaled eight points apiece.

The Vulcans will hit the road for their first out-of-state trip, playing in northern California over the next three weeks matching up first with Holy Names this Sunday in Oakland. The women will tip off at 1 p.m. local Pacific Time (11 a.m. Hawai'i Time) followed by the men's game at 3 p.m. PT (1 p.m. HT).
Hawai'i Hilo will return for two final home games on Feb. 8 and Feb. 11.
The Eagles will return to California to take on Azusa Pacific.
Hawai'i Hilo and Biola will match up again Feb. 21 in La Mirada, California for the penultimate game of the regular season.
