KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – Dysen Park shot three-under with rounds of 70 and 69 to take the top spot in leading the Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf team to victory at this past weekend's Hawai'i Triangular at the Mauna Lani Golf Course and Waikoloa Resort Beach and Lakes Courses.

The Vulcans edged HPU by just one shot, finishing with round scores of 291 and 288 for a 579 total (11-plus).

"After the Washington trip — first tournament was OK but the second one didn't go so great so I knew I had some holes in my game to work on. It felt good to come home. Growing up as a Hilo boy, I played these courses a lot so had to defend home turf," Park said, who is a class of 2023 Waiakea High School graduate. "I was excited. Not too happy on the way I played, but a win is a win."

Park was joined at the top by fellow freshman Katsuhiro Yamashita — who competed as an individual — with a runner-up placement at one shot under. The Kealakehe High School '23 graduate posted the lowest round score of the event at 67 shots in his first collegiate action.

Hawai'i Hilo will finish out the fall season with two more events on the west side of the Big Island with the HPU Sharks Shootout (Oct. 23-24) and the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate (Oct. 27-28).

"When we went to Washington to start the season, it was a grind. I never played that much golf. As a freshman, I had to adjust to that," Park said. "So this next week coming up, I know it's back on that train. Just got to believe in myself."
