Women's Soccer Repeats No. 5 Top 25 Ranking

Hawai‘i Hilo was listed with sole possession of the No. 5 ranking in the latest top 25 poll.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – After sharing the No. 5 ranking a week ago, the Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer team came in with sole possession in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll released Tuesday morning.

The Vulcans previously shared the No. 5 spot with Colorado Mesa, who moved to No. 6.

Although Hawai'i Hilo, now 9-0-1, defeated Biola this past Monday, voting for the Week 7 poll was completed prior to that match at the end of the weekend.

The Vulcans also remained atop the West Region Ranking with Concordia University Irvine following (No. 12) at No. 2, Seattle Pacific (No. 22) at No. 3 and Point Loma at No. 7.

Ashland University (12-0-1) continued atop the top 25 at No. 1. There are 11 unbeaten teams in the current top 25.

NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS

The first NCAA Regional Rankings will be released next Wednesday, Oct. 25 with the top 10 teams in each region listed in alphabetical order.

These rankings computed by the NCAA will help determine the top six schools to advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Regional rounds.

For the West, the winners from each of the Pacific West Conference, California Collegiate Athletic Association and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference will automatically qualify for the postseason. The remaining three teams will be granted according to the regional ranks.

The top two teams will also earn hosting rights for the NCAA West Regional First and Second Rounds, if they choose to do so.

Two more iterations of the NCAA Regional Rankings will be released before the final announcement with the NCAA Selection Show on Nov. 13.

UNITED SOCCER COACHES

Founded in 1941 and based in Kansas City, Missouri, United Soccer Coaches has grown into the world's largest soccer coaches' organization that serves members at every level of the game.

United Soccer Coaches conducts the most widely recognized national and regional soccer ranking system in the country as a service to the general public and its members. The intent of the rankings program is to stimulate greater interest in men's and women's soccer at the intercollegiate and interscholastic levels and to recognize those programs that are enjoying remarkable success on a regional and national level.

United Soccer Coaches rankings, released every Tuesday during the regular season, are an indicator of week-to-week status of qualified programs and in no way should be used as a guide or indicator of eligibility for championship selection.
