HILO, Hawai'i – With the middle contest of a jam-packed weekend of action, the Hawai'i Hilo Women's Volleyball team fell to Biola in four sets (22-25, 25-17, 21-25, 16-25) Saturday evening in Pacific West Conference action at the Vulcan Gymnasium.
The second set saw the Vulcans go on a seven-consecutive scoring run to even the match at two sets apiece, but Biola came right back and managed to steal a hard-fought back-and-forth Set 3 — with 14 ties — by scoring seven of the last eight points before ending the match in the fourth frame.
Halfway through the conference season, Hawai'i Hilo finds itself in the middle of the pack with an even .500 record, currently sitting at No. 6 in the standings. Biola moved into a tie for No. 3 with Azusa Pacific. Point Loma remains undefeated at the top followed by Chaminade at No. 2.

- Kamryn Childs totaled 10 kills (.316) and assisted on three blocks. Childs scored crucial points to keep the Vulcans in the game late in Sets 1 and 3 while also notching the sealing score of the second set.
- Emerson Reinke totaled 40 assists and 10 digs for her eighth double-double on the season.
- Taylor Tullo led with 15 kills and added eight digs and two block assists.
- The Vulcans outdug the Eagles, 62-50, highlighted by the 20th point in Set 2 when Samara Cruz's dig of a Biola attack ricocheted back to the baseline of the basketball court markings. Tani Hoke made a dashing save as Madelyn Blandford launched a free ball all the way across the court for the kill.

Hawai'i Hilo moved to 8-10 overall (5-5 PacWest) while Biola moved to a 9-3 conference record (13-6 overall).
The Vulcans will be back in action Monday evening to host Fresno Pacific at 7 p.m. in the Vulcan Gymnasium for Round-2 action of the PacWest Conference season. The Sunbirds narrowly edged the Vulcans in five sets at the beginning of October.
Monday night will be Think Pink Night as the month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to receive free admission.
