BELLINGHAM, Washington – Two Vulcans finished in the top 20 as the Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf team posted a consecutive seventh-place finish to wrap up season-opening play in Washington at the Western Washington University Invitational at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club.
Junsu Im led the Vulcans and finished in a three-way tie for No. 6 while Jacob Torres, who competed as an individual, finished at a four-way tie for No. 13.
Hawai'i Hilo ended with a 894 team score (plus-32) for a consecutive seventh-place finish. The Vulcans finished just a stroke behind Northwest Nazarene one spot ahead, and two shots behind HPU two spots ahead.
Simon Fraser took the top spot again at four-over. Chico State's Tyler Ashman shot five-under (67) in the final round to jump up seven spots for a first-place finish.
Hawai'i Hilo will close out the fall portion with three events on the Big Island in a tri-match with HPU and Chaminade (Oct. 14-15), the HPU Sharks Shootout (Oct. 23-24) and the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate (Oct. 27-28).
