Men's Soccer Ends Road Trip by Blanking Fresno Pacific, 2-0

Hawai‘i Hilo posted its fourth shutout of the season.

FRESNO, California – The Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer team is leaving California with a victory after blanking Fresno Pacific, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at Ramirez Field.

Vulcans got on the scoreboard in the 26th minute on a counter-attack with Gabriel Gallardo weaving through three FPU defenders before slipping a through ball forward to Andrew Rehedul for the finish.

Later in the second half, the Vulcans were charging again with Aidan Santos racing down the left side and trying to connect on a last-second cross with Rehedul, but a FPU defender over slid the pursuit and ended up trapping the ball with his arm for a handball violation inside the penalty area.

Colby Lee put through his second score in consecutive games.

Hawai'i Hilo keeper Christian Souza was busy in both halves, facing 11 total shots and coming away with seven saves for his fourth-career shutout and the Vulcans' fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Vulcans went 2-1 through their Northern California slate of games to open the conference season.
