FRESNO, California – The No. 6 Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer team will return to the Big Island after having left doughnuts all over Northern California with a 2-0 shutout over Fresno Pacific Saturday evening at Ramirez Field to cap a 3-0 road trip to open the Pacific West Conference season.
The two-time defending PacWest Conference champions posted their fourth consecutive shutout, outscoring opponents, 14-0, through those contests.
The Vulcans' top two leading scorers added to their totals as Alyssa Padron netted her fifth goal of the season in the waning minutes of the first half, connecting on an assist from Adree Johnson in the 45th minute.
Teani Arakawa added her seventh goal of the season after being tripped up by the FPU goalkeeper to set up a penalty kick score in the 53rd minute.
Hawai'i Hilo goalkeeper Phoebe Barnes made all three of her saves in the first half as she earned her second shutout of the season and 13th of her career.
With the victory, the Vulcans extended their regular-season unbeaten streak to 32 games dating back to Oct. 3, 2021.

Hawai'i Hilo moved to a 7-0-1 record (3-0-0 Pacific West Conference) while Fresno Pacific moved to 1-8-1 (0-2-1 PacWest).
The Vulcans will return home Oct. 7 to host HPU to start a string of six home games.
MATCHED HIGHEST RANKING
After a 3-0-0 week, the Vulcans moved up two spots to No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Week 4 Poll released on Tuesday.
Hawai'i Hilo started the season at No. 14 and have now matched the program's highest ranking, which was achieved last fall during the first week of October.
The Vulcans also remained at No. 1 in the West Region rankings.

Single-game and season tickets are now available to be purchased online through Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Athletics' recently launched online ticket platform in partnership with AudienceView Campus.
The 2023 slate will feature 15 total home matches at the Vulcan Soccer Field with a package price of $30 for adults and $25 for seniors (ages 65-plus) and middle/high school students.
