Soccer Vulcans Earn Academic All-District Team Honors

GREENWOOD, Indiana – Twelve total Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Soccer student-athletes were selected to the 2024 Men's and Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team.

Men's Soccer: Colby Lee, Tom Vorkastner, Koki Hamada, Gabriel Gallardo, Palli Ingvason, Felix Drizinsky.

Women's Soccer: Filippa Graneld, Teani Arakawa, Alyssa Padron, Alia Bournay, Jazlynn Ellis, Phoebe Barnes

The 2024 Academic All-District Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, requiring a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 with sophomore standing and above. Eligible nominees must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or have started in at least 66 percent of total matches.

Hamada, Graneld, Arakawa and Padron were also selected for further Academic All-America consideration, which members of CSC will vote on and later announce Dec. 10-11.

ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT/AMERICA PROGRAM: Founded in the mid 1950s, the highly regarded Academic All-America selected by College Sports Communicators program is unquestionably regarded as the premier awards program in intercollegiate athletics for honoring combined academic and athletic excellence. CSC members nominate and vote for Academic All-America® teams in 16 sport contests in all NCAA and NAIA divisions including men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball, softball, men's at-large, women's at-large, men's track & field and women's track & field.

COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS: College Sports Communicators (CSC) was founded in 1957 and is a 3,200+ member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. From its founding in 1957 until the 2022 name change, the organization was known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
