HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Volleyball was defeated in four sets by Fresno Pacific (25-11, 19-25, 24-26, 26-28) Saturday evening in Pacific West Conference play at the Vulcan Gymnasium.
The Vulcans commanded the opening set of the match, hitting .552 with a 83 percent sideout percentage. The Vulcans had just two hitting errors and two service errors in Set 1 but combined for 39 errors the rest of the way (23 hitting, 8 service, 8 reception).
Set 3 and Set 4 saw 14 and 12 tied scores, respectively, as the Sunbirds managed to pull away late in each frame to claim the win.
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 9-6 in the PacWest (14-11 overall) as Fresno Pacific moved to a 9-7 conference record (14-10 overall). The Vulcans remained tied in fourth place with Concordia.
OTHER NOTES
- Samara Cruz led the Vulcans with 18 kills (.325) along with 13 digs.
- Tani Hoke totaled 20 digs, eclipsing the 20-digs mark for the sixth time this season.
- There is no conference postseason tournament as the PacWest Champion will be determined by final regular season standings.
