WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – The Vulcans continued to bring the bats out and provided enough of a cushion to earn victory No. 1 on the season with a 15-6 win over Cal State Los Angeles Sunday morning to conclude play in the O'ahu Baseball Classic at the Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
Bryce Tweedt started the day with a lead-off triple and Vance Oshiro later knocked in a two-RBI single to put Vulcans up with an early 3-0 lead.
The Hawai'i Hilo offense continued to pile on throughout the game as Cody Min, Mason Cook and Oshiro each had multi-hit and multi-RBI outings at the plate. Arthur Soto also bashed three doubles.
Cook capped the scoring with a three-run bomb in the bottom of the eighth inning as the sophomore finished the day with two home runs and a double with five putouts behind the dish.
Only four total Pioneers batters received free passes to first base via walk or hit-by-pitch. Nick Agacki got the start going just 4.0 innings — one complete inning below the minimum threshold for starters — so Ty Honda grabbed the win on record in 1.0 inning of relief work.
Orlando Leon Jr. got the save in finishing out the final 4.0 innings.
