SAN DIEGO, California – Hawai'i Hilo Baseball dropped a four-game series to No. 13 Point Loma with defeats by scores of 6-2 and 6-5 on Thursday afternoon and 7-4 and 6-4 on Friday in Pacific West Conference play at Carroll B. Land Stadium.
The Vulcans out hit the Sea Lions, 32-27, while leaving the bases stranded at a 31-26 margin. PLNU pitchers managed to make up some of the ground by notching 26 total strikeouts in 32.0 innings against 10 free passes to first base. Hawai'i Hilo totaled 11 strikeouts with 14 walks and eight beaned batters given up.
Braeden Mondeau finished with seven hits (.583), two RBI and three runs through the two-day series.
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 4-16 in the PacWest (6-19 overall) as No. 13 Point Loma moved to a 16-6 conference record (20-8 overall). The Vulcans are currently No. 11 in the conference standings with Point Loma at No. 3. Westmont is at the top at a 19-1 record.
