HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer wrapped up the regular season with a 2-1 victory over Dominican on Monday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Vulcan Soccer Field.
Teun van Gansewinkel opened the scoring in the 35th minute, connecting off assists from Gudmundur Ingason and Keita Goto for his third goal of the season. Dominican managed to put in the equalizer in the 58th minute, a rebound goal by Sebastian Jaral after Vulcans second-half goalkeeper Diego Bastias stuffed his initial shot.
Kanilau Tolentino-Perry then delivered the decisive blow with less than 15 minutes left in the match, taking a pair of passes from Ido Chalamish and Yoke Duku into a one-on-one with the goalkeeper before juking left past his diving attempt and sending it into the open net with his left foot.
Hawai'i Hilo logged game action for 23 total players in the season finale, with Jose Carlos Ortiz and Bastias splitting time in goal — both of whom, along with Mateo Murillo, were celebrating Senior Day in their final games as Vulcans.
Hawai'i Hilo finished the season 6-6-3 overall and 3-3-3 in PacWest Conference play, currently tied for sixth in the standings with 12 points.
