Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Jessup

LINCOLN, California – Hawai'i Hilo Baseball fell in both ends of a doubleheader against Jessup, 9-0 and 6-2, Wednesday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at McBean Park.

The Warriors got on the scoreboard early and never looked back after plating six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the first to open the four-game series. Hawai'i Hilo was held to just two hits.

In the afternoon affair, Hawai'i Hilo second baseman Braeden Mondeau knocked a two-RBI double to even the score at two runs apiece in the top of the fourth, but Jessup managed to tack on four more runs to secure the twinbill sweep.

GAME NOTES

  • Game 1: Hawai'i Hilo 0 - Jessup 9
    • Devin Meyer entered in relief and tossed 4.2 innings with five strikeouts, no walks and one unearned run allowed.
    • Mark Fedro singled in the top of the fifth for the first of the Vulcans' two hits.
    • Hawai'i Hilo had two defensive errors, both leading to an unearned run scored by the Warriors.
    • Jessup center fielder Tony Otis batted 4 for 5 (double, two-run home run) with two RBI, four runs scored, a stolen base and two putouts.
  • Game 2: Hawai'i Hilo 2 - Jessup 6 (7 inn.)
    • Mondeau finished the game batting 2 for 3.
    • Noah Nakaoka made his first start of the season, collecting five putouts in center field with a base hit and a sacrifice bunt.
    • Vulcans again committed two defensive errors with one of them leading to the go-ahead score (unearned run) by the Warriors.

Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 11 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Vulcans finished the 2025 regular season at No. 11 in the conference standings.
