Men's Basketball Falls to Chaminade

HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Basketball fell to Chaminade, 86-78, on Thursday evening in Pacific West Conference play at the McCabe Gymnasium.

In the penultimate game of the season, Julio Montes II continued his season-long streak of finishing with double-digit scoring figures after dropping 24 points with four 3-pointers and going 6 of 6 at the free throw line. The senior splashed his 100th long-range shot (as a Vulcan — ranking No. 10 in the program record book) as part of a flurry of treys to pull the Vulcans within two points with just over five minutes remaining in the contest.

While the Vulcans held a three-point advantage heading into the final 20 minutes of play, Chaminade managed to shoot 56.0 percent from the field in the second half to jump out front and hold on for the win.

The Silverswords shot 27 of 34 (.794) at the free throw line while the Vulcans finished 18 for 23 (.783).

Brody Davis collected his third career double-double with 16 points (8-11 FT) and 10 rebounds.
