HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Basketball held off Chaminade, 63-59, in the penultimate contest of the season on Thursday night in Pacific West Conference play at the McCabe Gymnasium.
Chaminade managed to hold a three-point lead at halftime, but the Vulcans swung momentum in the third quarter highlighted by three 3-pointers splashed by Kacie Febo-Santiago — the last of which came on a second-chance opportunity to put Hawai'i Hilo ahead by its largest lead of eight points with just seconds remaining on the clock.
However, the home team snuck its way back into the ballgame to make it a one-point affair at 60-59 with 46 seconds to go, but the Vulcans closed the game out hitting their free throws (24-29 FT overall) to spoil Senior Night for the win-less Silverswords.
Kaile Cruz led with a team-high 16 points (9-11 FT) followed by 14 points from Keirstyn Agonias (8-8 FT), 11 points from Febo-Santiago (4-5 FG) and 10 points from Kimberly Macias (9 rebounds).
