Baseball Swept by Fresno Pacific

FRESNO, California – Hawai'i Hilo Baseball was swept in all four games against Fresno Pacific, dropping a doubleheader Friday afternoon before falling in both ends of Saturday's twinbill in Pacific West Conference play at Dan Martin Stadium.

Braeden Mondeau hit a two-run homer for the Vulcans' lone scores of Friday's opener as FPU managed to take a 13-2 mercy-rule win in seven innings. In Friday's nightcap, Evan Merz knocked his seventh home run of the season with a two-run shot in the fifth to give Hawai'i Hilo a 3-0 lead, but the Sunbirds rallied for a walk-off win — FPU's Holden Hirschkorn drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh.

Saturday saw Titus Wheelock manage to carry the Sunbirds offense, totaling nine RBI over two games with a pair of three-run home runs in Game 1. Nico Low provided the Vulcans offense in Game 2, scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning before adding a two-RBI base hit in the fourth inning to account for all three runs.
