Bercan Repeats, Men's Golf Wins Fourth PacWest Championship in a Row

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Dylan Bercan claimed his second individual PacWest title as Hawaiʻi Hilo Men's Golf won its fourth consecutive conference crown on Wednesday afternoon at the Pacific West Conference Championships at the Aliante Golf Club.

Bercan held a two-shot lead heading into the final round of play. The senior had a little bit of extra cushion early on and stayed the course to post another two-under round for a minus-eight overall finish to become Hawai'i Hilo's first two-time PacWest champion. Bercan claimed last year's title on the same course after posting a minus-seven score with a playoff victory over Jessup's Michael Sorber. Vanguard's Kyle Koski shot three-under to finish as this year's runner-up.

PACWEST HAWAI'I CHALLENGE

Hawai'i Hilo earned the maximum three points for Men's Golf competition after finishing ahead of the other two Hawai'i schools at the PacWest Championships (HPU finished No. 7 and Chaminade at No. 8).

The Vulcans now have 21 points and with just Baseball and Softball competition to wrap up in the coming weeks, Hawai'i Hilo has clinched bragging rights of the friendly competition for a third consecutive win (fourth time in the last five years). Hawai'i Hilo is guaranteed at least two more points (one in each sport) and will finish with a minimum final score of 23. A maximum of six points (three in each sport) is still up for grabs but it still won't be enough for Chaminade (15) and HPU (16) to tie or overtake the top spot.

The year-long PacWest Hawai'i Challenge tracks head-to-head (Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, Women's Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Softball, Baseball) and common conference event results (Women's Cross Country, Women's Tennis, Men's Golf) in equal sponsored sports between Hawai'i's three NCAA Division II schools.
