HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer edged Chaminade, 1-0, to close non-conference play Sunday afternoon at the Saint Louis School Field.
Aubree Panui scored her first career goal in the 55th minute to help put the Vulcans on top. Sydney Harpster volleyed the ball over and Panui sent a 35-yard shot through the top of the goal.
"I knew it was bouncing, and I didn't get a shot yet in the game, so I was like, 'I might as well just rip it,'" Panui said. "I was kind of far out, but I was like, 'if I just put my foot down and run through it ... only good things can happen from there,' and it went in."
Panui, an O'ahu native, is in her first season with the Vulcans after spending her first two seasons at Western Oregon.
"I'm just super blessed and I'm super happy that my family — and my best friend's family is here — my cousins, my baby cousins are here and I'm just so happy I got to score in front of them. I've never scored before so this is very exciting," Panui said.
Lydia Keller made three saves for her fourth consecutive shutout — the most by a goalkeeper in the Pacific West Conference through the non-conference portion of the season. It was also career shutout No. 12 to move into a tie at No. 2 — with Phoebe Barnes (2023-2024) — in the Vulcans program record book. Keller also moved her UHH saves total to 86 to move into a tie at No. 5 in the program ranks — tied with Alysia Ann Barone (2010-2011).

PACWEST CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 3 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Vulcans posted an 8-3-6 record last fall and made an appearance in the PacWest Championships semifinal round. The 2026 PacWest Championships will be hosted by Hawai'i Hilo on Nov. 5-7 at Vulcan Soccer Field.
