Longtime local baseball coach Blayne Sato joins the Vulcans officially as an assistant coach in 2021.
Sato has coached at the prep level for Kea`au High School as a varsity assistant coach and junior varsity head coach for 20 years. At the youth level, he has been the head coach for Cougar Baseball Babe Ruth, the Waiakea Pirates Little League Seniors and the Hilo Little League All-Stars.
The local native (Waiakea HS) has also served as a head and assistant coach for the Nobu Yamauchi RBI teams, including coaching as an assistant coach for an RBI Senior World Series Championship squad.Â
Sato graduated from the University of Hawai`i with a BBA in Marketing. He is currently an account manager for Pasha Hawai`i, and lives in Hilo with wife Kari, daughter Alyssa, son Dyson and a grandson.
