2021 marks the eighth season that Kevin Yee has served as an assistant baseball coach with head coach Kallen Miyataki. His current duties include working with the outfielders, coaching first base and assisting in recruiting.
Before joining the UH Hilo staff, he was the head coach for two seasons at Waiakea High School (2012-13). The Warriors won the 2012 HHSAA state title, with a team that included three future MLB draft selections--first round pick Kodi Medeiros (Milwaukee), fourth road selection Kean Wong (Tampa Bay) and 35th round pick Quintin Torres-Costa (Milwaukee).

Yee also served on the Vulcan staff from 2004-06 when the school played at the Division I level, and he has over ten years experience coaching youth baseball.Â
A native of Fremont, Calif., Yee was a three-time all-league first baseman at Mission San Jose High School. He then played two seasons at San Jose City College, earning second team all-league honors as a sophomore, hitting .406.Â
He finished his playing career as a Vulcan (1999-00), graduating in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He currently is an insurance agent with Pyramid Insurance Centre, Ltd., and also has his own real estate investment business--KC Investment, LLC. He is married to Cherilyn H.F. Yee and has a stepson (Caleb Freitas-Fields) and a daughter Kailey-Mae.
