Tai Ando was added to the University of Hawaii at Hilo staff on August 1, 2010.

Ando comes to Head Coach Jeff Law's staff from Pebble Beach, Calif. where he was the girl's varsity head coach since 2008. He was also the boy's varsity assistant coach in 2007 and the boy's freshman head coach from 2002-06. He also served as an assistant coach for the West Valley Basketball Club since 2007.

He broke into coaching as an assistant coach at Newtown High School in Queens, N.Y. in 1999.

Ando earned his bachelor's degree with a double major in International Relations and East Asian Studies from Bucknell University (Pa.) in 1996. He completed his master's in Teaching English as a Second Language at Columbia University (NY) in 1999.
