Kaleb Gilmore's basketball journey began at Kalaheo HS, where the Mustangs won the 2015 Hawai`i state title and Gilmore scored 30 points in the championship game. He was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player and was also selected as the OIA East Player of the Year. From there, next stops included two years at Chaminade (one as a redshirt) and another at Jacksonville College in Texas.before he landed back in Hawai`i at UH Hilo. After a tough junior season and a slow start to his senior year, he hit his stride as the calendar turned to 2020. At home against Point Loma, in just 16 minutes of action, he scored 13 points and had four assists. That would jump start of string of nine straight games in double figures (all off the bench), during which time he rained home 21 of 45 three-point attempts, a sizzling connection rate of .467. He saved his best though for the last weekend of the season, pouring in 23 points at Chaminade--where his father George is in the school's Hall of Fame. In the upset attempt of the Silverswords, Kaleb hit 8-of-14 shots, 4-of-8 trey attempts, 3-of-3 free throws, had three assists and three steals. Gilmore, who will graduate this spring with a degree in Administration of Justice, led the Vulcans in three-pointers made on the season with 32.
