Had a banner sophomore year at UH Hilo...Named the Pacific West Conference Newcomer of the Year...Was 19-4 on the number one singles court...Finished 15-10 at No. 1 doubles...Named the ITA Regional Player to Watch...First Team All-PacWest Conference...Ranked 25th nationally in singles and fifth in the West Region...Named Vulcan team MVP...PacWest Player of the Week in mid-March after winning three doubles matches and two singles bouts, defeating UC San Diego's No. 36 ranked Eric Tseng (6-2, 6-1)...Closed out the season with six consecutive wins, including three victories at the PacWest Conference Championships...Only losses on the year were to Hawai`i Pacific's Filip Dolezel, ranked seventh in the country and national champion Oliver Frank of Azusa Pacific...In Slezak's third match against Dolezel, he lost by the slimmest of margins at 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 14-12...Named to the All-PacWest Academic Team.
