Coach Bailey Gaspar

Bailey Gaspar

Bailey Gaspar stepped in to her new role as the assistant softball coach at UH Hilo in the summer of 2021. Before moving back to Hilo, Gaspar was living in Arizona where she taught first grade and coached softball at the high school and travel ball levels. 

A 2018 graduate and former alum on the Vulcans softball team, Gaspar works primarily with infield, hitting, and as the strength and conditioning coach for the softball team. Gaspar was a three-year member of the softball team, earning several impressive accomplishments. During her time as a Vulcan she garnered many accolades, including but not limited to two-time All American honors, three-time PacWest All-Conference selection, three-time All-Region selection, and a two-time recipient of UH-Hilo's Female Athlete of the Year award. In her senior season where she received her second recognition as an All-American, she batted .404 and led her team with 15 home runs and 54 RBI, both of those being UH-Hilo single season school records. She is also the Vulcan all-time leader in home runs with 35 total. 

At UH Hilo, Gaspar earned her bachelor's degree in business administration and was a leader on campus. She served on The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as UH-Hilo's SAAC President and the as the President of the PacWest Conference SAAC. During her last semester of college, she received the NCAA Degree Completion Award and was a volunteer student assistant coach for the softball team.

Prior to joining the Vulcans, Gaspar attended AIB: College of Business where she also received All-Conference honors. Gaspar graduated high school from Mountain View in Vancouver, Washington where she was a three-sport athlete (Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball) as well as the ASB President. 

Some of her favorite things include her family, dogs, country music, and food.Â
