Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Athletics

Joining the Vulcan coaching staff in 2017-18 is assistant coach Clayton Kaneshiro.

Kaneshiro has coached locally with the Waiakea High School girls basketball program. He played at Grinnell College (Iowa) where he was a second team all-conference selection and a team captain. He graduated from Grinnell with a degree in economics.

Clayton teaches physical education at Kaumana Elementary School in Hilo, and is married to wife Jennie Goya Kaneshiro. They have two children, Zoe and Takeo.
