Debi Dewey joined the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo volleyball coaching staff in August of 2015.
Dewey began her coaching career at Central Oregon Community College (COCC) as a volleyball instructor in the Department of Health and Human Performance. She taught volleyball activity classes and coached both the men's and women’s teams in USAV regional and national events from 1991-2000. Her COCC Men’s BB team won a USAV National Championship in 1998.
Dewey moved to the prep level at Redmond High School (Ore.) and served six years as the girls’ varsity coach and five years as freshmen coach from 1996-2012. When Ridgeview High School (Redmond, Ore.) opened its doors in 2012, Dewey became its first varsity coach and led the new team to two consecutive state appearances. In 2014, she served as the Ridgeview varsity assistant coach.
Dewey earned her Bachelor of Science in Marine Science from Southampton College (NY) and Master of Science in Biology from Texas A&M.
She has instructed marine biology, biology and volleyball classes at both the community college and high school levels for the past 25 years.
