Randy Hirokawa

Dr. Randy Hirokawa

Dr. Randy Hirokawa serves as the Faculty Athletic Representative, helping bridge the gap between the Vulcans Athletics department and the UH Hilo faculty for student-athletes. The former Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences currently serves as a professor in the Communication department.

Hirokawa is known for his expertise in the area of small group communication and decision-making effectiveness, having published three edited books, 40 refereed journal articles and 27 book chapters along with numerous national and international lectures.

The Kaua‘i native also serves as the public address announcer and play-by-play commentator for Hawai‘i Hilo Softball home games.
