Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Athletics

It's becoming pretty common for Isabelle Mejia to contribute to the Vulcans in an old school way--at bat, and in the pitching circle. In this past weekend's four-game series versus Academy of Art at Kealakehe High School, the senior pitched her team to two wins to improve to 11-2 on the season. In the series opener on Friday, she didn't give up an earned run in a 10-1 win over the Urban Knights, allowing just four hits in the five-inning mercy rule victory and fanning six. At the plate, she drove in five runs on the day (including UHH's 9-3 win in the second game), hitting a single, double and triple on the afternoon. On Saturday, she had a no-hitter through four innings before settling for a seven-inning win, allowing just four hits, one run and again striking out six. She had a hit and drove in two more runs, giving her seven RBI in two days. On the year, her 11-2 record is tops on the Vulcans, as are her 11 doubles as a hitter.
