Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Athletics

Chyann Gabriel played two seasons on the basketball court for the Vulcans. Actually, it was 1.5 seasons as she spent the back half of the 2018-19 campaign on the bench with a knee injury. In the Fall semester, she started eight games, averaging five points and four rebounds a contest. As a senior this past season, she played in 23 of UHH's 26 games. She had a career-best 13 points at home against regionally ranked Azusa Pacific, and equaled her rebound best with eight in the opener against Multnomah. The Hilo native, who has eight siblings, came to UHH after playing one season at Everett CC (just north of Seattle), and is a 2015 graduate of Kamehameha Hawai`i in Kea`au, where her Warrior teams won two Division II state titles. "Makamae" will graduate with a Administration of Justice degree this spring.
