Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Athletics

It will be bizarre for Vulcan players, coaches and fans to not see Billi Derleth in a UHH softball uniform next year. Derleth has spent full or parts of the last five seasons as a Vulcan, spending time in the pitcher's circle and as a designated or pinch hitter. Derleth, the UHH Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2018-19, finished 18-18 for her career in the pitcher's circle with a pair of saves. As a freshman (2016) she was 12-8 with four shutouts. As a sophomore she started 25 games at DH and hit four home runs. In a injury shortened 2018 she had a 1.97 ERA, and in 2019 she was named to the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Team. The Huntington Beach native (Oceanview HS) graduated last year with a 3.92 GPA in Communications and added another degree this year in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.
